Fucked Up

Meet Mentum

Mentum doesn't conform to the standard way of labeling artists. When asked what kind of group they are, they reply: "a serendipity". The trio from Oslo was united by their differences.

Sindre, the multi-instrumentalist of the group, continually explores new instruments. Strings, keyboards, and everything in between - all must be tested, all must be mastered.

Tim, the man behind the digital gears, has probably ventured deeper into the music program Logic Pro's features than its creators.

Finn, vocalist and songwriter, realized early that a head filled with craziness and love needs a relief--he has found this in Mentum.

The result of these fates coming together is an eternally satisfying showdown between analogue harmonies and digital rhythms, together with longing lyrics and laidback songs of joy. The group has stepped into the limelight after their first hit "Girl" was released to a cheering crowd at Nox nightclub in Oslo. Mentum's songs have reached nation-wide coverage on norwegian radio stations, and are frequenting top playlists. Mentum's artwork has recently been discovered abroad. The single "Haunted" hit the #1 spot on Spotify Top 50 Viral-list in the Netherlands, and their collaboration with Dreamon on the hit "If It's Not From You" surfed the top in swedish and norwegian lists. Following their highly successful show as support for Galantis at Sentrum Scene in Oslo, many have displayed interest in Mentum.

In an industry filled with attention-seekers, there were many who doubted that Mentum would break through. 1.5 million Spotify plays has silenced any doubt. Mentum is the proof that quality music can hold its own. And this is just the beginning.

Some say Finn was born with a six-string on his back, but all we know for sure is that he can rock the casbah like only a few others before him. After years of grinding the frets and broadening his guitar skills by the likes of virtuosos such as Slash, Jimi Hendrix, and John Mayer, he started learning to sing after much encouragement from his brother. As a songwriter, Finn draws inspiration from human beings: the species cursed with a conscious awareness of their own mortality that allow for both brilliant and tragic experiences in life, love and lunacy. After finishing high school he journeyed to Edinburgh, Scotland to study music, and upon completing his bachelor he returned to the motherland to pursue a full-time career as a musician.

As a child, Sindre was fed music with a tablespoon. His parents were both talented musicians, having mastered several instruments such as the flute, organ, piano and trumpet, and they started teaching Sindre how to play piano at the young age of six. With his superior environment to learn and grow as a musician, he rapidly gained a solid understanding of music and its theory, and developed his ability to express himself through composing and improvising. Sindre was a prisoner to the allure of music. In recent years, he has found himself broadening his musical horizon with other instruments such as the guitar, drums, and organ. He continuously finds new and creative ways to bring his compositions and musical ideas into life in electronic music.

Tim started expressing his creative side through drawing and painting at an early age, but his growing fascination for sounds and harmonies dragged his attention onto music. As an avid explorer of various musical genres, he one day stumbled upon Daft Punk. He was never the same afterwards. Only days later Tim was reborn as T.I.M.T, a bedroom producer from Oslo. For years he was inseparable from his computer; constantly exploring new sounds, hooks and melodies, and mastering the art of Logic Pro. Through contemplation, talent and a will to work hard, he realized his potential to make a living of his passion, and today we know him as one of the founding members of Mentum.
